WILDFLOWERS!!!! COUNTRY GARDEN FLOWERS!!!!

Yes… I even risk the dreaded ‘over-exclamation’ because I love wildflowers and country garden flowers so much! And at Liz & Alistair’s gorgeous wedding down at Powder Mills this weekend, there were flowers, flowers everywhere! You couldn’t ask for a more light, bright and beautiful garden location. Nor could you ask for a happier and more fantastic couple.

As promised, Fran & John’s engagement shoot has broken new ground for us here at T&T as this is our first foray into the world of sword fighting. Following their time-travel theme, we started off at the York Railway Museum, walked a rainy jaunt through the city of York and landed in Barley Hall where everything proceeded to get very medieval… and very dangerous. I have to say – after watching her wield a great big piece of steel, I think Fran is possibly my new hero. A little bit of a cross between a gladiator girl and Xena, Warrior Princess – only much more rad.

Speaking of time…. the wedding is coming up very soon – with more time travel to come. Next time a little sonic screwdriver might have to happen…..

Okay, so sometimes there are weddings where I get carried away. The bride is fun. The groom is fun. Their friends are cool. Their family rocks. Their dog is cute. And their day is just FLIPPING AMAY-ZINGG. Well, that pretty much describes the wedding of Gem & Alex this weekend down in Hampshire. Matt may or may not have had to force me to leave at the end of the evening. I was enjoying their band a little way too much…

Here is a tiny peek into the day with more rocking wedding shenanigans to come.

The Parsonage Escrick

As promised, here is a brief peek into Louise & Gary’s fabulous wedding – rainbows and all (check the last image! It is a faint one, but it is there!). We had such a fantastic time at Louise & Gary’s wedding, they are such a warm & wonderful couple – the kind of people that are just too easy to get on with! Awash with purple ombre & purple plaid – the day just ‘popped’ with colour everywhere (c’mon – there is nothing cuter than little boys in purple plaid kilts!).  One of my favourite shots of the day was of Louise standing in the church doorway because it is a replica of the same picture that her mother had taken years ago at the very same church. I am a complete sentimental nut like that.  And let’s not forget the rainbow – every rainy day bride deserves one!

When Rachel first contacted me about her ideas for a rainbow coloured wedding, I may have actually squealed – if you define the word ‘may’ as ‘definitely-without-any-question’.

Rachel, whose smile is just as bright as her rainbow themed wedding plans, has one of those fantastically infectious personalities that just make you want to join in with her japes and laughter. She and Phil make such an amazing couple because you can just tell that they are the very best of friends. The best marriages stem from the best friendships…..

It may have been rainy when we headed out to the University of Nottingham, but what a perfect opportunity to stamp around in a few puddles and get a bit wet.

Remember Louise & Gary from their Engagement Shoot?

Well, yesterday they were married at St. Wilfred’s Church in Brayton (what a gorgeous and bright church!) and then celebrated in style at the Parsonage in Escrick. In true English fashion, the weather went from hail to rain to sunshine to rainbows all in the matter of hours. Gorgeous ombre purple details abounded as well as laughter and tears (okay lots of tears from me….what can I say? I always cry. Always.)

Here are just a few photos from the day to get you excited about all the goodness to come.

They are cool, they are fun, they are creative……

And dare I say, they are all just a little bit rad?

Well, when John & Fran told us they were having a time-travel wedding showcasing their love through the ages, we were so there!

So starting on our travel through time, we visited the York Railway Museum and Barley Hall (where Fran works part time teaching little kids about the general punishing nature of medieval childhood) for their engagement shoot. Here is just a little tiny sneak peek of the goodness to come. But hold on to your seats, because the full version has sword-fighting. Pinky swear.

“Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,” he asked, “or bit by bit?”

“It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the Skin Horse. “You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”

“I suppose you are real?” said the Rabbit. And then he wished he had not said it, for he thought the Skin Horse might be sensitive. But the Skin Horse only smiled.

“The Boy’s Uncle made me Real,” he said. “That was a great many years ago; but once you are Real you can’t become unreal again. It lasts for always.”

“What is REAL?” asked the Velveteen Rabbit one day… “Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?”

“Real isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse. “It’s a thing that happens to you. When someone loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.”

“Does it hurt?” asked the Rabbit.

“Sometimes,” said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. “When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.”

Okay, okay – enough about the gorgeousness of the day and on to more pressing things – like how absolutely stunning Emma looked in her wedding dress with all of its lace details. I love the blush colour  and the v-neckline that had just a hint of Audrey Hepburn.

Our first bride of the 2012 season, Emma has set a precedent for the year by being, calm, collected and EARLY to the wedding! Now, that is a lot for the rest of my 2012 brides to live up to.

But that is just the kind of people Emma and Neil are – relaxed, no-stress and so easy to like.

What a way to start the season – a wedding filled with lots of laughter and some even better dance moves (waiting for you at the end of the post).

PS- Leave it to me to go to a beautiful historic hotel like Beamish Hall and find the tractor…..
