Escrick Park Estate is a field-site hire venue on the grounds of a 250 acre woodland trust and is the perfect location to put up a wedding tipi, yurt, bell tent, marquee or sperry tent.
As York and Selby area wedding photographers, we just love the way that Escrick Park Estate captures that natural and relaxed wedding day vibe. Their woodlands wedding space is completely unique to the area (and gorgeous) and allows for wedding ceremonies in both rain and shine thanks to the protective cover of the site’s abundant ancient trees. Since we specialise in photographing fun and relaxed weddings that break all the rules, we absolutely love it when couples tell us they are getting married at Escrick Park.
When photographing weddings at Escrick Park, we love all of the versatility that the grounds have to offer. Because we want you to be focused on enjoying your day and hanging out with your friends and family, we prefer to do a few little “mini” couples sessions throughout the day rather than one long session that makes your loved ones think you have disappeared! For each of your “mini sessions”, we are able to select from the different backdrops Escrick Park has to offer.
The open grasslands near the tipi/marquee space is a fantastic contrast to the shaded nook of the Woodlands ceremony space and both offer a lot of opportunity for some relaxed and natural couples photos without having to go too far from your guests.

Group Photos at Escrick Park
While there are definitely a huge variety of options for your group wedding photos at Escrick Park, I’m not going to lie – our favourite spot is just next to the reception tent pitch under the beautiful mature trees. There is some fluffy meadow grass for texture and the trees provide the perfect shade so your guests aren’t staring into the sun. The other great thing about this location is how close it is to your guests. You are only a few metres away from the action so you don’t miss those canapé trays as they go by!
Couples Photos at Escrick Park
There are a huge amount of options for your couples photos at Escrick Park. The woodland wedding ceremony space is an ideal location for a few photos because it provides protection from light rain and overly bright sunlight. The lane next to the woodlands is also beautiful and of course, there is also a structured garden location but that is farther away and you will want to chat with the Estate management staff for permission to use it. In the afternoon/evening the sun can sit low over the fields which is perfect for some golden hour magic!

The Woodlands Wedding Ceremony Space
The woodlands wedding ceremony space is by far one of my favourite outdoor ceremony locations. According to the Escrick Park website, they are able to accommodate registrar or celebrant ceremonies (we love a good celebrant!) and the space can hold 150 guests or more. Because the trees surrounding the space are so mature, you don’t need to fear a little rain as the natural canopy (plus some well spaced brollies) will see you right. You can even have your ceremony in this space without renting the field for your reception – how cool is that?
Reception Spaces at Escrick Park
Now this is where your imagination can go wild. Because Escrick Park is a field site hire location, you can choose from a huge variety of pop-up structures from bell tents to yurts to tipis to sperry tents. Each structure will have its own vibe so you can pick what works best for your day. Additionally, the venue hires out bales of hay and log stands to help you kit the place out. We recommend considering including some garden games or sports so your guests can make the most of what the great outdoors has to offer!

How to Find Escrick Park
Escrick park is easy to find. From the A19, you turn down Carr Lane and continue until it becomes Main Street. You will pass the cricket club on your left hand side just before finding the signs for the entrance to Escrick Park on your right hand side.
