Oakwell Hall Barn Weddings
Howdy there partner and welcome to our Oakwell Hall Barn wedding photography guide. We are so happy to show you around this really lovely historical barn & Manor House venue that offers the best blend of relaxation & stately charm.
We have a shed load of great insider advice about this Grade I Eliszabethan estate located just a short drive from Leeds. From the stately home to the rustic 19th century barn to the restored walled gardens, this venue is heaving with gorgeous little nooks and hideaways.
As Yorkshire and Leeds area wedding photographers, we just love the versatility of Oakwell Hall and the way they want to work with their couples to have a little side of grandeur with their shenanigans.
We want you to be totally prepared to get the very best out of your wedding photography at Oakwell Hall Barn so stick around and have a nosey so you can get to know us and Oakwell Hall a little bit better!
Oakwell Hall Barn Wedding Photography
As Leeds area documentary wedding photographers, we are super excited to work at venues as historic and beautiful as Oakwell Hall. No matter which way you turn, there is another beauty spot just calling out for a cute loved up wedding couple.
We specialise in photographing fun and relaxed weddings that are really just a front for a good ol knees up and so we love it when couples tell us they have chosen Oakwell Hall because it offers the perfect space for our kind of fun, and unpretentious wedding couples.
Rather than absconding with our couples for long sessions of couples photos – we prefer to pop couples away for little 10-15 minute mini sessions dotted throughout the day. Oakwell Hall works so well because we can choose from so many different back drops.
Brides & Grooms can pop over to the 110 acres of country parkland or duck into the lush walled gardens or (depending on permissions from the venue) use some selected spaces inside the Oakwell Hall Manor House to pose as Lords and Ladies of the realm.

Group Photos at Oakwell Hall Barn
There are a huge number of choices for group photos at Oakwell Hall. However, couples might want to keep in mind that it is a country park open to the public. This means that not all spaces will be free of members of the public just milling about. For example, group photos in front of the Manor House might be more prone to intrusion from the public. But what might work better is to just do key group shots (brides/grooms people, etc.) in these spaces as it is easier to work around the public when the shots are smaller in size. Remember to chat over any plans you might be hatching with the venue staff – not all areas of the property are available at all times of the day.
Couples Photos at Oakwell Hall Barn
For real though – is there a place you can turn around in Oakwell Hall and not get a good couple’s photo? Near the barn and the courtyard, we can use the neutral stone walls. Over in the country park – the views are just to die for. In the house you can play out your best Downton Abbey wedding cosplay. In the period walled garden, we can catch a little golden hour light or use the structure of the gardens to create a beautiful backdrop. Down by the jetty, the fields and trees are a bit more wild and untamed. The sky is literally the limit for your couples photographs.

Depending on the size of your guest list, you can choose from a ceremony inside the Great Hall which seats up to 60 guests or the Barn which seats up to 110 guests. Both spaces are quite different with the Great Hall featuring classic Elizabethan architectural features including dark wooden panels & beams. The Barn is a lovely blank slate location with 19th century brickwork and large wooden doors. Although we have never shot an outdoor wedding at Oakwell Hall, it is suggested that this is a possibility. Are you having an outdoor wedding at Oakwell Hall?
