Our York Photography Approach
Our approach to North Yorkshire wedding photography is relaxed and unobtrusive, but we aren’t “ninjas.” At best, we are Pokémon trainers. In all honesty to be a ninja, there is just too much hiding in the bushes and preparing for surprise attacks.
Instead, we hide in plain sight, having fun and chatting with your guests all whilst being your eyes and ears on the day. Because we get to the heart of the moment, when you look back at your photos, you are getting to live the day again – not just see it.
With over a decade of wedding photography experience, we consider ourselves to be first and foremost North Yorkshire documentary wedding photographers. However, we also know how important it is to have a few “tidy” shots so you can put up a respectable front. So feel free to throw all the shapes on the dance floor – we’ve got your back.

Be Rain Ready
Weddings in North Yorkshire have some of the most beautiful backdrops in the world. But although many things are perfect about North Yorkshire, this is after all England and that means one thing – rain.
There is absolutely nothing about rain that has to spoil the shenanigans on your wedding day if you are just a little prepared. You know what they say, if you fail to prepare, be prepared to fail.
Having photographed well over a hundred rainy weddings, we have compiled a practical guide to rainy weddings with real world solutions and advice. No quick infographic click bait here – just practical steps you can take to have a rainy North Yorkshire wedding that sets the bar for wedding days everywhere!
A family affair
Whether you decide to invite kids to your wedding (or not!), we fully support your decision. Every couple should have the wedding day they want if for some people, that means babysitters ahoy!
But for those North Yorkshire wedding couples who decide to make it a family affair, it is always important to consider the day from the eyes of the younguns’ you have invited. Whilst it has become standard fare to include a colouring book and some toys on the table, there are many more simple ways you can improve the experience of the children at your wedding.
We have years and years of experience photographing weddings and we have picked up a trick or two along the way to help you find the best ways to include children in your wedding day. (Not to mention 22 years of having our own spud to take care of!)
Let’s Skip to the good part
As North Yorkshire wedding photographers, we have seen the same old story time and again. Couples start planning their wedding with big ideals to have a unique day that focuses on the fun over the formalities, and by the end of their planning they are feeling stressed and have somehow signed up to cut a cake they never wanted in the first place.
As experienced wedding photographers, we have written an article to help you avoid the biggest pain points in any wedding day. This isn’t a trite fluff piece at regurgitates the same three pieces of advice you have already read. This is the real deal so hang onto your nuggets and get ready for a little home truth in our article on how not to f^€& up your wedding day.
