Wedding Photography at The Normans Wedding Venue

As a York wedding photographer – I get to work with so many amazing couples in such a gorgeous part of the country (God’s own, right!?!). Well, Tisha & Dave’s wedding was no exceptions. In fact, like many of our couples – it totally sets the bar. It was our first opportunity to work at The Normans – one of the most awesome new wedding venues in the York area and we were super impressed! It is a venue that really has put a lot of thought into getting the details just right. From the cute little courtyard to the sparkly fairy lights in the ceremony room – it is 100% awesome and I really hope to work there again in the near future.

I started my day with Tisha in the morning at her home and Matt was with Dave and his best man at the cottage at the Normans. Wedding prep is always fun but Tisha’s was extra fun. She had me and the hair & makeup artists in absolute stitches. Then we set off for a gorgeous ceremony in the barn at The Normans and it was officiated by one of our favourite Humanist celebrants. He always tells such fantastic stories about the couple during the ceremony and I always leave feeling like I have gotten to know the couple so well just through the things he says about them. After an epic confetti explosion, we headed out into the low autumn light for some photos. We even lucked out and got an amazing sunset full of rainbow colours.

I must admit that the speeches are one of my favourite bits of the day (okay, I am not gonna lie, I love all the parts of the day) and I just loved capturing all of Tisha & Dave’s big reactions. A few drink-matt shenanigans later and we were out on the amazing chequered dance floor dancing the night away!

Ah man – our job is just so much damn fun. I think it should be required that all our couples renew their vows every 5 years so we can hang out again and have some fun!
