Why Choose Rushpool Hall?
When I’m photographing a wedding at Rushpool Hall, I always enjoy that drive up the private road through the Valley Gardens. You get a quick flash of the turrets through the trees, then suddenly you’re right in front of this enormous Victorian pile with these charming neo-gothic features. With cupolas straight out of a Disney film, it looks like a storybook come to life with the North Sea peeking out just over the hill. Built in the 1860s, Rushpool Hall is chock-a-block with tall windows that flood the external rooms with natural light—brilliant for photos! And there are plenty of sheltered spots outside if the wind’s having one of its more “Saltburn” days.
The gardens are a mix of tidy lawns and tucked-away corners (the bracken edge of the gardens is lush!), so you can go from a big confetti throw to a quiet couple’s portrait without trekking miles. Of course, if weather and time permit, we can also head just a few miles out to the Saltburn seaside to get some beachfront shots. What an amazing escape from the hustle and bustle of the day.
Inside, you’ve got wood-panelled rooms, high ceilings and enough space for guests to spread out without losing that “everyone’s together” feel. It’s one of those venues that works in any season, so you never have to worry about the weather ruining the backdrop.
Planning Tips for a Seaside Wedding at Rushpool Hall
Rushpool Hall’s coastal location means you’ve got to be ready for anything the North Sea decides to throw at you! One minute it’s sunshine, the next it’s a bracing breeze that’ll try to take your veil (and you!) with it. But fear not, you’ve got indoor and outdoor ceremony options, and the venue team will let you make the call on the day if the weather’s being particularly British.
The grounds are lovely for photos, but remember heels and soft lawns don’t mix (particularly if it has just rained!). If you’re attached to your Jimmy Choos, make sure you have some heel protectors, or keep a pair of flats handy for wandering between the terrace, gardens and Pavilion. Don’t forget to give a heads-up to your guests, too!
Obviously, it Rushpool Hall is a venue that is gorgeous in all seasons, but late spring through early autumn is your sweet spot. Summer light is glorious, and autumn turns the valley gold as the leaves change which can make for some of the most stunning photos. If you’re planning a cooler-season date you will need to think layers: pashminas, cardies, even a good coat if the wind’s up. It would be a real tragedy to have to buy a super-cute wedding coat with pockets, right?
As a bonus for our hard-partying weddings (which would be most of you—haha!) there are rooms on site, so you can keep the celebrations going into breakfast the next morning. Just book early. Between weddings and weekend breaks, they fill up faster than you’d think.
Your Wedding Photography at Rushpool Hall

Group Photos at Rushpool Hall
While there are definitely a huge variety of options for your group wedding photos at Rushpool Hall, I’m not going to lie – our favourite spot is just next to the Grecian folly on the low rising steps. There is such a lush backdrop and the levels mean that we can see everyone’s happy faces. Of course, if it rains (touch wood!), then we can pop to a more sheltered location or move the group photos inside the venue in the bar area. The wood panelled walls look gorgeous. Think lords and ladies of the manor…
Couples Photos at Rushpool Hall
There are a huge number of options for your couples photos at Rushpool Hall. The grounds themselves are gorgeous and who wouldn’t want that absolutely amazing looking Victorian Manor behind them in loads of photos? We do, of course, recommend a trip over to Saltburn if you have the time and the weather is right. In the evening as the sun sets, the beach really tends to clear out and you get al the best of what the North Sea has to offer.

Rushpool Hall Amenities

The Rushpool Hall Ceremony Space
Rushpool Hall offers both indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces with flexibility about the location based on the weather. The decor in the indoor ceremony space is some of my favourite, really light and bright whilst still incorporating loads of Victoriana details. The bay style window at the back lights up the room and it feels open and airy with plenty of room for a large number of guests without feeling pinched!
Reception Spaces at Rushpool Hall
Rushpool Hall can turn around the ceremony room into the breakfast room really quickly, which means you can enjoy the best space in the building all day long. While they set up your tables, your guests will be moved to the glasshouse and/or the bar and can even enjoy a bit of a wander in the grounds where they can take in the seaside views. In the winter, the wood panelled bar area is particularly snug and inviting!
