FANCY MEETING YOU HERE!
It is always so awesome when wedding vendors who have worked together to make an amazing day want to continue to extend that friendship! And can we just say that it is super flattering that you love our brand of happy photography so much that you would like to use some of it to promote your business?
Trust me, we completely understand the importance of beautiful professional photographs of real weddings and how valuable they can be to the industry professionals we work alongside.
As you can imagine, we (like you!) attract some pretty special weddings, and as such we can sometimes recieve a huge volume of requests to share images with vendors. Remember – there is one of us at every wedding but up to 20 other vendors all asking for image usage!
Whew – just thinking about it makes me need something fruity with an umbrella and a large amount of rum.
Below you will find some helpful information about when/where/how vendors may request uage of our images.
If you have any questions, please contact Jaye at: jaye@tuxandtalesphoto.co.uk
Copyright
Tux & Tales Photography retains copyright of all of our images. Our couples purchase a license for personal use of their images and this does not extend to supplying wedding vendors with images. The permission to use our images must come directly from us. Couples do not have the rights to obtain a profit from the use of our images (obviously!) and therefore you should definitely not be offering any compensation to couples (discounts, etc.) for use of our images.
Typically, it is our practise to offer up usage to wedding vendors we enjoyed working with free of charge (depending on usage) but you absolutely must obtain a license specifically from us before using any of our photographs in any way.
And not to get weird about it – but we absolutely reserve the right to refuse images to vendors who were difficult or rude to work with. So right now if you are a caterer who refused to feed us (despite the couple making arrangements), a hairdresser who had to take 10 minutes of iphone photos whilst running the bride 20 minutes late, or if you simply couldn’t be bothered to ask me for images politely…. you should just probably jog on.
Obtaining Images
Images cannot be released to wedding vendors before they are released to the couple. It is a good idea to assume to that this will typically happen about 12 weeks after the wedding date. If you absolutely need them earlier than this, we will levy a £10 rush service charge.
As a rule, we don’t send out many vendor images in the peak of wedding season (July-October) as servicing our paying clients is our number one priority. Please don’t take it personally if it takes longer than 12 weeks during these months.
Images are supplied via an online gallery and will be high resolution and watermark free. Images can be used only if you strictly adhere to our usage rules (listed in details on the license you will receive).
This includes one (or more) of the following:
-
- a copyright attribution,
- social media links (@tuxandtales),
- if used on your website – a clickable link leading to our website (a link on your recommended supplier page suffices if you cannot do on-page attributions),
- if used in print adding us to your recommended supplier list will suffice.
Just a little reminder that taking a screenshot of an image and using it without permission (even if credited) is illegal (and uncool).
We ask respectfully not to “chase” us for images in less than 12 weeks or during July-October and to make requests in a polite fashion. I know this seems like an obvious thing, but you would be shocked if you looked at my inbox and/or DM’s.
RULES FOR USE
Images used must primarily feature your product or service. For example, a HMUA may use a portrait of the bride but not a photo of the cake or a general photo of the ceremony.
You must refrain from using any image where a person under 18 is present. This includes flower girls and the couple’s own children. When in doubt – do not use the image.
Images must always be credited (see “obtaining images” and your license for further details).
Images must not be edited in any way. This includes converting to black and white or using a filter. You may crop the image to fit a social media platform or a print purpose but not employ any “creative” cropping.
You must refrain from using any image where any person is wholly or partially in a state of undress.
All images must be used with the express permission of the couple. This permission should be in writing and permanently stored for your records. It is your responsibility to obtain this permission before use and Tux & Tales Photography is not liable for any misuse of images or failure to obtain the correct permissions for your use.
Tux & Tales Photography may revoke permission for image use at any time and images should be withdrawn within 24 hours of this request. Tux & Tales Photography is not liable for any losses (real or consequential) which results from the withdrawal of the images.
Images which are used without obtaining prior consent may, at our discretion, incur a £100 penalty fee in addition to our customary commercial usage charge. This applies per image/per use.
