Leanne & Matt Got Hitched
Oh my do I loooooove Matt & Leanne’s Leeds Club wedding! I kinda want to marry it. IT has it all – groom in a dapper tuxedo – gorgeous readhead bride – first look – dancing in the streets to a brass band – sunset rooftop photos. I LOVE THIS WEDDING.
So I started in the morning with the ladies. As Leanne had her makeup applied her mother took me upstairs to show off Leanne’s gorgeous dress made out of miles and miles of fabric. I love the little bow-tie details throughout the day and Leanne even had a little bowtie belt feature on the front of her dress. It was a very relaxed and fun morning with everyone in a super chilled out mood. Leanne had her amazingly gorgeous waterfall bouquet made to match her grandmother’s bouquet. I just love the wild foliage! The bridesmaid’s corsage had such a beautifully 1930’s feel to it and it was the first time I had ever seen one like it outside of vintage photos. I hope to see more of them in the future – it was stunning!
Matt started with the gents and got busy documenting some very serious whiskey drinking. The gents all wore tuxedos and as you can imagine…. I heartily approve of a good proper dinner tuxedo.
Before the ceremony began Matt and Leanne had a first look outside of the church. I love nothing more than seeing couples see each other for the first time. It is always so emotional and I love the little boost of confidence it gives them to know that their partner has their back.
After the ceremony everyone boarded a big red double decker bus and headed over to The Leeds Club for the afternoon meal and evening revelry. Matt and Leanne extended the bow-tie theme to their decorations and turned the ballroom into an actual forest of ferns and flowers. I love good wedding flowers and I just about died when I walked in and saw so much gorgeous green leaf! Now THAT is how wedding flowers are DONE.
We did two sets of portraits – for the first short set we had a stomp around the city centre. I absolutely love city centre portraits because of the way the whole city seems to sit up and take notice when a bride and groom are around. The turned heads, the approving smiles and all the congratulations from strangers whose days have been brightened. Whilst I do love a good countryside wedding it is always great to get that buzz of a city.
Our second set of portraits we did after the meal as the sun set. We tromped up to the rooftop carpark to get some absolutely stunning city views. Everything about Leanne and Matt just seemed to belong in that cityscape.
But the fun didn’t stop there. The evening shenanigans got underway with a surprise visit from the New York Brass Band (You might remember them from Jennie & James’s Wedding) who marched everyone out into the streets for a proper street party. Nothing in the whole world is as cool as a groom playing the drums and a bride doing the conga in the city streets.
Congratulations Matt & Leanne…. you smashed it. Then you smashed it again.
