As Yorkshire wedding photographers, we get to know the wedding venues in Yorkshire super well and absolutely love when we are invited to photograph a wedding at one of our all-time favourite venues. Barmbyfield Barns is a fantastic Yorkshire barn venue and the perfect setting to capture some truly awesome documentary Yorkshire wedding photography. Tucked away in the beautiful countryside just outside the village of Barmby Moor (near York) the barns just ooze rustic charm and we are always super excited to see what our couples have in store for us when they hire out this amazing venue for their celebrations.
From the very beginning, Jemima and Tom’s plans were the perfect fit for our unique blend of fun and relaxed Yorkshire wedding photography. They had planned a super chilled out morning before heading over to Barmbyfield Barns for an intimate ceremony and meal with celebrations going on late into the evening. A vintage fun fair, evening sparklers – Tom and Jemima had planned a really exciting day and as Yorkshire wedding photographers we just couldn’t wait to get stuck in and capture all those amazingly fun Barmbyfield Barns wedding photography moments.
Their day got off to a flying start with perfectly crisp and sunny autumnal wedding day weather. Tom and Jemima knew what they were doing and had planned to get ready at the same location for a zero stress morning. There was a palpable sense of excitement as family members buzzed around helping with the preparations. We just love it when the couple decides to get ready in such close proximity while still avoiding seeing each other. Knowing that your future husband/wife to be is so close at hand but hidden away with their own preparations adds some bottled lightning to the atmosphere and makes for some amazingly fun Yorkshire wedding photography. Tom and Jemima had a morning filled with laughter and it wasn’t long before Tom was being whisked away to await his bride at Barmbyfield Barns.
In a beautiful ceremony filled with personal touches – at one point various friends and family gave little individual readings from their seats – Tom and Jemima were married. Then it was out of the doors and straight into a sea of hugs and kisses from those nearest and dearest that were literally beside themselves to congratulate the happy couple. The post-ceremony mingle has to be some of my favourite time during weddings and as a Yorkshire wedding photographer I just love how unreservedly happy and excited everyone is and the really natural documentary wedding photography of these moments.
The fun wasn’t over and it wasn’t long before we were whisking Tom and Jemima off for some beautifully autumnal couples portraits. Wedding photography at Barmbyfield Barns is an absolute pleasure and the rolling fields and awesome yellows and greens of the tree canopies make for a stunning backdrop. Barmbyfield Barns also has to be my favourite place to take photographs of the bridesmaids and groomsmen – group photographs sure do look relaxed and fun when you have a rope swing involved!
On into the evening and as guests were ushered into the main barn (amazingly decorated with all the colours and styling’s of autumn) it was time for a hand-picked few to pick up their knives and get carving into the awesome Yorkshire spread that Tom and Jemima had laid on for their guests. Tom & Jemima’s day was all about fun and being around the people you love and who love you back. This fun was definitely front and centre following the meal and it was time for more amazing Barmbyfield Barns wedding photography as guests got to try their hand at the fantastic vintage fair attractions that had taken over the ceremony barn while everyone was eating.
A packed dance floor rounded off a glorious day. We even got to pop Tom and Jemima out for some sparklers and nighttime photos in front of the oak tree. The perfect end to the perfect day. Tom and Jemima, you guys rocked it!
